A welcoming home from home in the heart of the beautiful Dumfriesshire countryside
Our home, Applegarth House, once the former Manse, is just a short drive from Lockerbie. It’s ideal for an overnight stop if you are heading north or south as it is just a few miles from the M74 motorway.
Applegarth is a tiny hamlet with a quaint church beside the house. Originally this was the seat for the Jardine clan and full of history. We have a large garden for children and dogs to run around and which has a 12th century Motte. There’s a terrace to enjoy drinks and meals if the weather is good. There’s also a decking viewpoint to the west where you can watch the sun go down with a glass of wine.
We offer dinner, so once you have arrived there is no need to climb back into your car again! We invite guests to join us for a pre dinner complimentary drink if they like. It is out style to treat our visitors like friends, offering a very personal service.
Please come in and see what Applegarth has to offer ...
We have two double rooms each with their own bathroom and two single rooms which are ideal for children – only available when booking one or other of our main guest rooms. Downstairs is the basement and is perfect for dogs and a human playroom too! There is a sofa, TV, Table Tennis and even a running machine.
But with mainly undiscovered countryside we would urge you to stay longer. Take a drive in Molly our old Morris 1000 convertible around the empty lanes or hire our bikes. Hold ups are normally caused by the occasional tractor, cattle or escaping sheep!
Come and hear the remarkable story of recovering the stolen submarine bell.
We are dog lovers and welcome friendly well behaved dogs as do Millie, Phoebe and Ozzy. Sorry, no dogs in bedrooms.
We would like to reassure our guests that we follow all recommended procedures to ensure your health and safety with special regard to COVID
